We recently completed a grey block paved driveway installation in Rochester, transforming a tired and uneven front area into a clean, modern, and highly functional space.
The client wanted a fresh new look that would maximise usable space while giving the front of the property a more contemporary finish. A full excavation and new installation was the best approach to achieve a long-lasting result.
The Problem
Before starting, the existing surface was no longer fit for purpose:

Our Approach
1. Ground Preparation
We excavated the entire area to the required depth, removing all unsuitable material and preparing the site for a solid foundation.
2. Sub-Base Installation
A new Type 1 MOT sub-base was installed and mechanically compacted in layers, creating a strong and stable base for the new driveway.
3. Drainage Installation
A channel drainage system was fitted at the entrance to manage surface water effectively and comply with drainage requirements.
4. Block Paving Installation
We installed high-quality grey block paving in a durable layout, featuring:
- Sleek, modern grey blocks
- Contrasting light border to frame the design
- Dark edge detailing for a sharp finish
- Precise cuts around the bay window for a seamless look
5. Finishing Touches
- Kiln-dried sand brushed into all joints
- Final compaction for strength and longevity
- Edges and details cleaned and finished neatly
