Block Paved Driveway | Gillingham
Primeline Roofing & Building Ltd recently completed this impressive block paved driveway installation in Gillingham, transforming an outdated front garden and damaged driveway into a spacious, attractive and practical parking area.
The existing driveway and front garden offered limited parking space and had become tired over the years. The homeowner wanted to maximise off-road parking while creating a smart, low-maintenance finish that complemented the property’s brickwork.
Full Excavation & Ground Preparation
The project began with the complete excavation of the existing driveway, paths and front garden. All old concrete, soil and waste materials were removed before the area was excavated to the correct depth.
A new heavy-duty MOT Type 1 sub-base was then installed and mechanically compacted to create a solid foundation capable of supporting vehicle traffic for many years. Levels were carefully formed to ensure effective drainage across the driveway.
New Block Paved Driveway
Once the groundwork had been completed, a sharp sand laying course was installed before laying premium charcoal block paving in a classic 90-degree herringbone pattern. A contrasting charcoal soldier course border was incorporated around the perimeter to provide a clean, defined finish and improve the overall appearance.
The blocks were precision cut around the edges to achieve a seamless fit before kiln-dried sand was brushed into the joints and the entire surface was compacted to lock the paving firmly into place.
The Finished Result
The completed driveway has completely transformed the front of the property, providing generous off-road parking while dramatically improving kerb appeal. The dark charcoal paving complements the home’s brickwork beautifully and offers a durable, low-maintenance surface designed to withstand everyday use.
