Front Garden Transformed into a Modern Block Paved Driveway
Primeline Roofing & Building Ltd recently completed this block paved driveway installation in Parkwood, Gillingham, completely transforming an overgrown and dated front garden into a smart, spacious and practical driveway.
The original frontage consisted of an old paved area, concrete pathway, planting and overgrown vegetation. The customer wanted to make much better use of the available space while creating an attractive, low-maintenance area suitable for parking.
Excavation & Ground Preparation
The first stage involved clearing the existing garden and removing the old paving, concrete, vegetation and unsuitable ground materials. A mini excavator was used to efficiently prepare the area and establish the required levels across the new driveway.
A substantial aggregate sub-base was then installed, levelled and compacted to provide a strong foundation. Once the groundwork was complete, a sharp sand laying course was carefully prepared ready for the block paving.
Correct preparation beneath a driveway is particularly important, as a solid and well-compacted foundation helps prevent movement and settlement under regular use.
Grey Block Paving with Contrasting Borders
For the main driveway, grey block paving was installed in a traditional herringbone pattern, creating an attractive finish while providing excellent strength for a frequently used surface.
The design was completed with contrasting light grey and charcoal border detailing around the perimeter. This creates a distinctive frame around the darker central paving and gives the finished driveway a clean, contemporary appearance.
Blocks were carefully cut around the perimeter and property entrance to ensure a neat fit throughout.
A Complete Front Garden Transformation
The difference between the original garden and completed driveway is substantial. An overgrown and difficult-to-maintain frontage has been replaced by a large, clean and practical paved area that makes far better use of the available space.
The grey paving and contrasting borders work particularly well with the existing property, while the newly finished edges give the whole frontage a much smarter appearance.
